Prince Alfred Park POM - Surry Hills
Client: City of Sydney Council Project Category: Plans of Management
The Prince Alfred Park Plan of Management and Masterplan was commissioned by the City of Sydney to provide the basis for guiding Council’s ongoing enhancement and maintenance of the park.
The park is a significant component of the city’s open space network and remains as the only major park within Sydney that is generally unaffected by overshadowing from adjoining development.
Given the park’s significance and intensity of use the Plan of Management aimed to conserve and improve the park as a unique place within the public domain providing structured and unstructured recreation opportunities to a variety of users.
Consultation within the community was an important factor that shaped the management and improvement directions for the Park. Consultation incorporated a series of community workshops, open day and park user questionnaire.
