Public Domain Policy
Environmental Partnership has become increasingly involved in recent years in the development of public domain policy for local government.
The recognition of the need for effective public domain controls to supplement traditional planning and design controls has grown as our urban environments expand, become more densely settled and complex, and are critically compared to other cities in terms of quality of environment, visual and cultural identity, and quality of public domain maintenance and management.
Our approach to policy development has focused upon an understanding of the way in which individual authorities work, and the tailoring of planning, design, and management tools to best suit their internal skills and resources.
Outputs in terms of policy plans and manuals has focused upon graphically oriented documents that are clear, concise and easy to access.
Ultimately public domain policy must provide tangible improvements to the quality of urban environment to which it relates. Environmental Partnership‘s extensive experience in civic / urban design and open space development ensures that policy recommendations are cost effective and implementable, and provide flexibility for future adaptation and evolution.
