The Georges River Foreshores Plan of Management was prepared for Bankstown City Council in response to a range of issues influencing the environmental and recreational quality of the community open spaces adjoining the Georges River.
The study involved several stages:
• identification of site values and significance;
• identification of site pressures and opportunities;
• development of management and masterplanning strategies;
• compilation of the draft Plan of Management.
Community input to the plan was provided to through two community workshops along with several Officer Workshops to ensure internal coordination.
This project was received both State and National Project Awards for Master Planning Category from the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects in 2002.
