Munmorah SCA Visitor Entry Precinct

PROJECT NAME

Munmorah SCA Visitor Entry Precinct

LOCATION

Munmorah State Conservation Area, NSW

CLIENT

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service

DURATION

2009

In 2009 Environmental Partnership developed concept design and documentation for a series of interpretive structures to form a new visitor entry precinct adjoining the NPWS area office and visitor centre to the Munmorah State Conservation Area (SCA).

The Munmorah SCA is located on the Central Coast of New South Wales.  The area’s coastal setting, panoramic views, perched sand dunes, diverse vegetation communities, protected threatened species, migratory bird habitats and opportunities for nature based recreation are amongst the reasons for the reserve’s creation.

The outcome is a welcoming paved entry space with sandstone block seats and a walkway lined with a totem markers that interpret the range of natural and cultural features within the Munmorah area.  The form of the totems is inspired by the curving and arching branches of the coastal forest.
